Tony and I are setting off to start a new life… it’s going to take some time for everything to fall into place, but we’ve been talking about and planning this for months. The house we will be building is going to be really special and will reflect our values, our passion for sustainability, love of nature and desire to build community.
Tony is very technical with lots of experience tinkering, rebuilding cars and doing home renovations. He easily understands the big picture and can break it down into bite size pieces. Also, he never gives up! I think being unafraid to try new things is going to be really important as we move this project forward.
When we tell them it is going to take 3-5 years to complete… AND… that it will be made out of recycled car tires. It really ranges…
From ‘you’re nuts!’ to ‘wow! I wish I could do that!’ and everything imaginable in between. Our eldest daughter refers to it as ‘your mud hut’
We’ve decided it doesn’t matter to us what other people think – this is our dream and we’re going to do everything we can to make this a reality.
I’ve been toying with the idea of writing a blog about our experiences along the way, thinking that maybe others would be interested and want to:
- learn from our mistakes,
- roll up their sleeves, dig in and help us make mistakes and/or
- watch and comment from the sidelines.
